"we are family"

5 years later and still one of the most treasured pieces of paper I own.

One morning in September 2008, my dad drove me away from home to start university - something he never thought he'd be doing by himself but due to mum's treatment she had to wait and joined us later. Before we left he handed me this piece of paper, and on it - a word, a reference, a definition and a picture of a beach shoreline. Below the picture is a message from dad from both him and mum in what is now faded black pen ink!

One simple word such as 'Mizpah' reminds me of home, my faith, my parents love and how we will always be close to one another regardless of where I spread my wings to in life!

It's also strange how a piece of paper can become one of your most valuable possessions whilst at university when I was suffering from extreme homesickness in the very beginning, and even now as I remain away from home for a job. As they say - it's the simple things... :)
