A Long Walk Past A Short Pier

We decided to make the most of the first day of lockdown easing by taking a trip to Burnham for a walk along the beach.

The pier here at Burnham is officially the shortest in the UK at 36 metres long ( apparently the Weymouth Bandstand pier is shorter now but only because the local council deliberately blew the end of it up!). More information here if you’re interested:

We’d already walked a mile or more before we got to the pier and walked as far as the headland in the far distance beyond the wooden lighthouse and back, so covered a good 6 miles in all.

We enjoyed a picnic and takeaway coffee on the beach and it would have been rude not to have an ice cream on our way back to the car, especially as the sun had come out and it was getting decidedly warm by then.
