In Miniature

It's impossible to recreate the grandeur of the mountains in an alpine garden.    We do like to try and create little vignettes in various ways including using troughs, as here.   A rooted cutting of Primula marginata 'Casterino', a lovely white flowered form, planted among pieces of tufa and with a dark leaved sempervivum for company.   There are a few other plants in the same trough which may well feature in the coming weeks.

A grey, wet and windy start to British Summer Time.   Both of us feeling somewhat tired, we had a lazy start.   We did make a trip to the shop, ingredients needed for Jamie to make a tasty Leek and Potato soup for our tea.   Meg had a zoomy walk and I got a couple of door frames glossed at work so the day was not spent entirely in idleness.
