Out And About
We travelled within our five-mile limit for a walk by the River Esk starting from St Michael's Parish church in Inveresk towards Musselburgh.
We took the high path above the riverside path (main pic) where there are bench seats, suitable for a sit-down with a flask of coffee, descending steps to join the main path, heading downstream as far as the weir.
Extra shows a flowering tree whose ID we have yet to confirm (Pleach, can you help?), butterburr, .purple toothwort (a parasite on willow) and an interesting fungus
The sunshine was most welcome and the chill start became warm enough to remove scarves.
Edit; Thanks to comments below the tree is ID'd as Norway Maple, (Acer platanoides), page 108 in the Collins Nature Guide Trees.
