Compensations (2)...
A slightly later start at work this morning meant some welcomed extra sleep. On the downside the normally peaceful walk in was somewhat marred by the number of people using the footpath. I confess to being particularly baffled by the four or five runners who were pounding up and down the path repeatedly. They all shared a very flat footed and laboured style running and I can't help thinking that it would be kinder on their bodies to run laps of the huge playing fields at the end path rather than use a tarmacked surface.
The path was only opened to the public just under two years ago and is bounded on one side by four tracks of the mainline railway to London Waterloo. On the other side however a long section of the path looks out onto Malden Golf Course. Come next Monday I imagine the greens and fairways will be packed with golfers returning after lockdown and in a month or so this view will be completely obscured when all the trees come into leaf.
