All talk
...and no action!
Today was the appointment to treat my frozen shoulder. As much as I was dreading it, the thought of being able to raise my arm shave my armpit kept me focussed.
Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.
I had to have a pre-op chat with the doctor who warned me all about the risks of steroids and the effects of immunosuppression. I asked if it might affect my bone graft surgery in 2 weeks time and he said he wasn’t sure.
He tried to call to my consultant but no reply. I spoke to the frame nurses, who said they didn’t think it would be a problem, as the steroids were going to be localised into the shoulder joint, rather than systemically through my whole body, but couldn’t say 100% that it was ok.
After an hour of to-ing and fro-ing, we agreed that my leg has to take priority and frustrating as it was for both myself and the doctor (especially when the room was all ready for action), it just wasn’t worth the risk of me turning up for surgery and having it declined due to the steroids.
He’s agreed to personally book me back in with him in about 8 weeks time. He did say he’d do it 2 weeks after surgery but I’m going to be on blood thinners for 6 weeks so he can’t do anything until they’re done. I’d shrug, but I can’t :-D
