Ceremonial fire
Today was the Equinox and the first day of astronomical spring - much of which was spent in the garden. Pete and I had made an early dash to our nearest garden centre to stock up on bird seed, and ended up buying a few plants to refresh the rockery area, and a set of small Clematis plants, which needed to have homes found for them.
While we were cooking dinner, Alex burned the remains of our Christmas tree. We had kept it up until mid-January this year, and had intended to burn it on Imbolc (1st February) as part of the traditional pagan festival but it was pouring with rain so we gave up that idea. It somehow seemed appropriate to burn it today, and it does give us more space on the patio for the time when we can have people round again!
