Birthdays

Today is both Eben's birthday and mine: 5 for him, 67 for me.  He and I always enjoy a bit of banter about the shared birthday, it's good fun.

Today Josh and Ruth dropped round in the morning, with both boys. We were able to give Eben his present, a toolkit and a little self-assembly toolbox - his first project.  He and Josh made quick work of the toolbox, I think the next plan is for a homemade bug hotel. The tools are real ones, but designed for a child's grip; not toys.  Eben is passionate about dismantling things and working out how they go back together (or of course, sometimes not).

Then Eben had a little get-together in his own back garden in the afternoon, with close family... with a Tyrannosaurus Rex cake constructed with some skill by Josh and Ruth.

We are lucky that they all live so nearby.

This evening Richard is cooking mediterranean fish stew and then we'll be finishing off the final series of Spiral on TV, having been somewhat late to that particular viewing party.
