Do not read if you are of a nervous disposition

Despite rave reviews from several quarters ("A terrific writer.......bodies abound, blood flows freely and [the detective hero] is a delight" - The Times), I struggled with all the gore, and I really wish I hadn't persevered to the end.

Either by coincidence or by an amazing premonition on the part of the author, the book, which was published in 2008, deals with what happens when foreign bodies get added to the food chain. Only in this case, they aren't of the equine variety, but are human remains. It isn't horses hooves that turn up in the abattoir, it's..........too gruesome to mention.
