Easter Stroll
At 6 AM we started an early walk through our small town. It is Easter so this was how we saw it getting light today. The temperature was perfect and it wasn't raining. We started in our church with a moment of lucidity. 28 people joint the walk. In 10 years this is a new record. There was a family with 2 little children from Diessen and even a couple from Bethlehem.
After 1,5 hour walking we had a brief stop (this blip). On this blip our son L. is reading out loud a little poem. After that we drank coffee and tea and ate some broodjes and krentebollen.
We walked further from Esbeek to Hilvarenbeek and Gerdie and Jan made croissantjes for the few who desided to go to their place after the walk. L. and I were some of the few as also the people from Bethlehem, Claire and John. They live in Bethlehem next to the grave of Rachel, who was the wife of Jacob. For safety reasons the Israel authority build a wall around 3 sides of their house. Because of this they now need a permit pass to visit this historical place which means a great deal to them because of their faith (Palisteen Christians). They told me that Eastern means much more to them than Christmas, because Eastern is the feast of the great light. She told me a fantastic story of a Patriarch, 21 scouts groups, the road from Bethlehem to Jeruzalem and so on. It made this day a special one to me.
Later on we sat again in the church. This time a dear neighbour girl did her first communion during a childrens mass in which my wife, son, daughter and I made some music. After the mass we saw her riding on her new bike, very proud she was.
We had an Easter breakfast and lunch. My wife made it all cosy and special with an Easter tablecloth and boiled eggs.
We visited my mother this afternoon who had baked goods for us and this evening my mother in law made a fantastic meal with icecream for dessert.
As always Easter is a busy but also pleasant time.
Lets all pass this light!
