Here we go again – Day 71
What a beautiful, warm, sunny day. It has been the type of day that, in normal times, Ann would have spent sitting on the balcony in the sunshine.
Today has not been a 'normal' day. Today Ann has been for her Covid vaccine. Whoopee Doo!!!
After having a major meltdown yesterday, re side effects and blood clots etc, she woke up this morning, having read all the comments on BLIP and FB from friends & family, and realised that she had been totally over-reacting to everything?!! Sometimes my human can be a bit of a drama Queen.
Anyway we went out for a couple of hours this morning because Ann said that when she came back from having her vaccine this afternoon she wouldn't want to go far. One of the places we went to was Figgate Park. Figgate Park is a great place for little collies. I rolled on the grass, I splish, splash, sploshed in the burn and I chased squirrels. There are a lot of squirrels in Figgy Park that need to be chased!!
This afternoon I got left 'home alone' while Ann went for her vaccine. Her appointment was at 2.06pm and she arrived at 1.50pm. Her friends had been told not to arrive any earlier than 10 mins before the appointment time but Ann hadn't been given that info. Anyway she joined the end of the queue that probably added another 1000 steps to her step count today. Lol! The queue was pretty much moving all the time. However, it still took 55 mins for Ann to reach the cubicle with the nurse in, who jabbed her.
Ann was hoping to take a few photos of the whole procedure (Lady M seemed to manage it on 6 Feb – she might have been jabbed elsewhere) but there were signs every few metres saying, 'strictly no filming or photos'. So that was the end of that idea?!!
Anyway she had the Astra Zeneca vaccine and the nurse who jabbed her was absolutely lovely. Marika was her name. Having already given her details to the person who takes your details when you get to be 10th in the queue and this particular person had NO people skills whatsoever, by the time Ann got to sit down in the queue, she was really freaking out again. She just wanted to run away but obviously that wasn't an option because she was in a one way system and no one was allowed to deviate from the route.
Soooo................. at the EICC when you get to be 10th in the queue you get to sit down and then as the queue moves forward you have to move to the next seat. Musical chairs springs to mind?! …...........Until eventually you reach the last chair and then you get called into a cubicle with a nurse welding a needle.
Actually it wasn't like that at all.................... Marika could see that Ann was 'not happy'. She was soo lovely and spent at least 5 mins explaining blood clots/side effects etc. Not sure the people in the queue behind would be happy with that, but hey ho, she wasn't the only nurse sticking needles into people.
Oh and the other thing; although Ann had to wait for 55 mins to actually get her vaccine, she didn't have to wait for 15 mins afterwards. Apparently with the 'Astra Zeneca' vaccine you only have to do that if you're driving.
After an hour, Ann was out of the EICC, home, walked me for half an hour and then said; 'Trixie, you know when you go to the vets and he sticks a big needle into you, you always get treats for being a brave girl don't you? Well today I've been a very brave girl and I haven't had any treats yet.............….............So I'm going to have a very large glass of wine.........................'
….............Sooooooo that's what's Ann's doing now?!!!!
