Harvester

Evening walk in the parish forest where contractors are busy. Looks like they are simply thinning out as there is very little in the way of sizable logs but lots of what we call" paper wood", 2 metre long logs of about 10cm diameter and used in the paper industry.

There was also a forwarder further up the path. A "Harvester" has an arm with chainsaw that cuts the trees down and into given lengths, the "Forwarder" has an arm grabber and trailer and loads up the logs and takes them to an unloading are. Between them the two machines are making a real mess of the forest.side paths that luckily people don't use. I simply don't understand it.
