Bustle
Wien Meidling station, getting aboard the 1703 for Graz Hbf. All it is missing it a bit of smoke and steam to make it a really timeless picture of a railway station.
In the style of a minimalist blipper, yesterday was taxi, plane, bus, walk, bus, plane, walk, bus, train, taxi. It took from 0540 to 2000 (i.e. 14 hours 20 mins) to cover a distance of less than 2100 kms, from Scotland's capital to Austria's second city. That just shoudn't happen.
This is why I had to leave home yesterday morning in order to be here in time to deliver a lecture at 1700 today. Meanwhile, working in the hotel which luckily has decent wifi. No time to see the city, but a colleague with a less stressful work programme than me is visiting it, so I can see it vicariously, as it were.
