Sunshine on Leith

Forgive the corny title, but I was quite impressed to see all these solar thermal panels (facing south) on some new build affordable housing built with money from the Port of Leith Housing Association and Edinburgh City Council down off Salamander Place. Details are here. These thermal panels are designed to provide the hot water to the properties on the top two floors, rather than to generate electricity.

Spectacular day today. Really warm. It had me out on the balcony this morning, cleaning the windows, and clearing out the plant pots, and then - unbelievably for the first week of March - watering the plants, because there is plenty of growth happening now, and I don't want everything to die whilst I'm away next week. That will probably be the signal for rain, snow, ice, gale, whatever.

Our wander took us down to The Galley, to meet our young friend for lunch. He's now well into his Engineering course, and he was regaling us with tales about the third Forth crossing, as he went to a lecture about it given by the chief engineer on the project. He was suitably impressed. We wandered back, and came across another friend hanging around outside Lamb's House, apparently waiting to meet someone they knew who was in Wishart's for lunch. We popped into the Leith Beer Company for a swift half, before completing our round wander back up the WoL to home.

Now I'm printing papers and boarding passes, and about to do a load of ironing in preparation for another of my epic trips starting at 7am tomorrow morning (ugh for a Sunday) from EDI to LHR. I hope Mr A won't be too lonely without me :-(
