Allington Castle

We were successful in procuring cardamoms in Waitrose and in a small Asian shop in town. It seems there is a world shortage of the spice caused by problems in the two main producing areas of India and Guatemala.

We were less successful in dodging the heavy showers that swept across as the strong overnight winds abated during the first part of the morning. Many of the bins out for collection today were toppled by the worst of the gusts.

From Waitrose we walked into town along the River Medway path, calling in at Wickes and The Range on the way back for various items. So it was a late lunch, gone 2.00pm by the time we were home.

Susan went out to her studio to practise more freehand machine embroidery while I worked on a presentation for next week then had a Kent and East Sussex Railway Zoom meeting. Our appeal for donations is going well with £40k raised in a couple of weeks.

I was expecting to blip another view of the barges on the river at Allington, instead the view of Allington Castle across the river caught my attention. The Castle has a long history and is now the home of Sir Robert Worcester, the founder of the MORI polling company. It’s not open to the public, but is used as a wedding venue.
