For the last month there have been masses of snowdrops in the woods, hedges and river banks. They are associated with many meanings and symbols including purity and innocence and as the first flower to bloom at the end of winter and beginning of spring it symbolizes hope – something we all need just now
"And thus the snowdrop, like the bow
That spans the cloudy sky,
Becomes a symbol whence we know
That brighter days are nigh.
