Pruning-The Walled Garden
It's getting to be beyond a joke! For the 14th morning in a row we have a leaden grey sky and biting cold wind. Much more of this and we will all be suffering from S. A. D.
I took my usual Sunday morning walk around Osborne House Gardens and headed to the Walled Garden where the Head Gardener has been skilfully pruning and training the fruit trees into cordons, espaliers and fans ready for the growing season.
I had intended to picture the first rhododendrons to come into flower but the bitter cold wind blowing straight off the sea made this impossible so with freezing fingers and running eyes I decided enough was enough and headed home for a hot coffee and crumpets.
