The old pump
I learnt today that there were Astrazeneca injections available at the local hospital. I had understood these were only for 50 to 75 year-olds with specific health conditions. However, when I phoned up they said anybody could have them in that age range which goes against what was announced on the television last night. They said to come and get a ticket tomorrow morning as it is a first come first served system. There are only 300 vaccines available. I then heard via a friend that they were issuing tickets today which they had not said over the phone. We abandoned two meetings to dash down to the town but when we got there they said they were not giving out any more tickets. They had realised there would be no tickets left to give out tomorrow. So we will have to go down very early tomorrow morning and get there perhaps an hour early to make sure we get one of the 60 or so vaccines left with tickets unallocated. It was all very frustrating! The vaccine roll out here is certainly not like the efficient exercise that is taking place in the UK.
