Nelly’s Moss Lake

I felt uncharacteristically low this morning. It was another cold, grey dismal day. I’ve decided the Nickel Boys will have to be abandoned. Child abuse and racism is just too much for me just now.

I met Chris in Cragside for a short walk along Canada Drive which was suitable for her crutch. Rex jumped up on me but I was ready for him.

I walked her back to her car then went back along Canada Drive to the Moorside car park, up the road and round the lakes then took another path back through to Canada Drive and round to my car. Only 4.5 miles. I saw a heron but what was noticeable was the lack of birdsong. The only person I saw stopped for a chat and she said it was because all the trees and shrubs are not native so our birds don’t like them.

I got a lovely surprise on my return - Tracey a London friend I met in Kyrgyzstan, had sent me the Tate magazine as there was an article about the Kusama exhibition in it. Doesn’t it give you a lift when people think of little things that make a big difference.

Nathaniel had a zoom assembly today. When the headteacher asked him what he was most looking forward to when he goes back to school next week he said “The summer holidays”.
