Morning Has Broken

Facebook has reminded me - as if I needed reminding - that it is exactly one year since I last attended a live concert.
Still, as last concerts go, it certainly had an impressive line up. Besides the star names listed on the poster, the “house band” contained such luminaries as Andy Fairweather-Low on guitar and Ian Paice on drums!
Obviously, we only heard one or two songs by each person, but there were various collaborations throughout the evening as well. Eric Clapton backing Van Morrison was one, but the highlight of the show, as far as I’m concerned, was Rick Wakeman accompanying Cat Stevens on “Morning Has Broken”. Even more impressive when you consider it was nigh on fifty years since they had last played it together. In fact, I think Rick said they had never performed it live together, so a definite first!
Two other things stand out from that trip. Mrs C had her purse stolen on the Underground so we spent the hour before the trip frantically cancelling cards etc. instead of enjoying a leisurely tea. And all anyone was concerned about was sanitising hands. We happily sat in a 10,000 seat arena - and squeezed into a jam packed tube train to get there - without even a thought of wearing a mask. But we sanitised our hands like mad because that’s what we were told would beat the virus! If only we knew then what we know now....
And let’s hope it’s not going to be another twelve months before I can attend my next live gig.
