Higher Slack Farm
Martin and I walked around Watergrove Reservoir this morning, enjoying the battle between the slight mist and the March sunshine. High on the moor, we came across the ruins of Higher Slack Farm which, according to a sign, was inhabited from 1921 to 1937 by William and Mary Richardson along with their nine (yes, 9) children. What a tough existence that must have been.
Later we saw a stray dog worrying a sheep. From about 40 metres away, on the opposite side of a deep quarry, we shouted to drive the dog away and chased it down the road towards the reservoir and car park. The dog disappeared after about a mile. Shortly afterwards we met two blokes searching for the dog which belonged to the mother-in-law of one of them. We provided appropriate advice.
