New car!
Friday
Out with the old, in with the new! The big event of the day, was picking up our new car, an Accura MDX, replacing our 14 year old Mazda CX-9 shown in the top picture. The Mazda has done us very well, and in general has been very reliable. It handled really well and gave a nice quiet ride, and was quite adaptable, seating 7 if necessary for short distances, or with all the rear seats down gave plenty of cargo space. Now admittedly, 3 1/2 of those years, from 2013- the beginning of 2017, when we were living in France, it got very little use. It was a brand new model when we bought it, and we still feel it looks pretty stylish today, but it was lacking modern technology, and at an age when if things went wrong they were likely to be expensive. We bought an SUV so we could tow our pop-up camper, and whilst we don’t have a camper at present, we are looking into getting one, hence another SUV. The Accura is likewise a newly updated model, and we were lucky they were able to find the colour we wanted at a dealer in Ann Arbor Michigan, so it was driven down, otherwise it would have been about a 7 week wait. Roger had a medical appointment in the morning, so we picked it up mid afternoon, and Roger spent most of the day reading through some of the manual, trying to work out how things work - technology and safety features are great, but do make things more complicated!
