On Winner Street
Are we on Winner Street now?
This is Paignton’s historic quarter. Winner Street - once Wynerde Street - referring to vineyards. Paignton was once full of vineyards, orchards, and cabbages. It was renowned for the flatpole variety. Cabbage fields were once everywhere in the town. This street is a bit run down now but a glorious renaissance is surely not too far away thanks to Cabbage Power. In the summer, The Cabbage Rebellion, a youth arts project , handed out seeds and encouraged everyone to reclaim their cabbage heritage.
The end is in sight, we are on Winner Street now, and the future is cabbage green and free. https://cabbagerebellion.co.uk
