Pubs in Hampton Wick

L3 Day 65 A very dismal day. A quick bike ride in the local area round Teddington and Hampton Wick. Being at the end of Kingston Bridge and near Hampton Court meant there were many pubs in the 16C and 17C. (Until Putney Bridge was opened in 1729 Kingston Bridge was the only crossing of the river between London Bridge and Staines Bridge) There are still three pubs in Hampton Wick which will hopefully be able to open again before long. The oldest building is the Forresters which dates from 1861 or before, it later had a facelift with the addition of Dutch gables. There was a Swan pub back in 16C and also there was an earlier White Hart in 17C - both were rebuilt in slightly different locations in the 1930s when the roads were widened. A fourth pub, The Old Kings Head which was rebuilt in 1906, has been closed for around a year but does not have a sale sign on it yet...it may be converted into flats as it is by the gate into Home Park.
