Tightly Bunched

With apologies to those who don't like to see animals racing...it was 50 cent Friday at Sarasota Downs. 50 cent admission...50 cent hot dogs...50 cent sodas....and 50 cent beers. I usually don't even wager anything...but today they got 6 bucks from me. 2 hot dogs...a Diet Coke...plus the 6 dollars equals $7.50. Last of the big spenders.

I like to try to photograph the dogs. You can't blink, or you'll miss 'em. 30-31 seconds (5/16 of a mile), and the race is over. You get them out of the blocks, and then on the final curve. Just once...I'd like to see one of them catch that rabbit.

I started the morning getting a couple birds...then went to the dogs...stopped by a antique car place...and ended up at a girls college softball game. Ironically...the visiting team was from Oakland University...about 40 minutes from my house in Michigan. Small world. After watching my daughter pitch in high school...softball never leaves your blood.
