Game, Seat and Match!
A few steps away is our local tennis club. The courts have recently been resurfaced and this new bench and viewing platform installed. I was pleased to be able to walk there and back this afternoon but suspect it may be a while until I am playing here again. In the depths of an Australian summer the first Open of the year has reached its penultimate day with an impressive win for Naomi Osaka in the women’s tournament.
Our tennis club has a charming inter war clubhouse just to the right of this blip. This morning I was invited to join the virtual Clubhouse app by a long standing Blipper. Thank you very much indeed for the invitation. You know who you are! A whole new way of social networking has just begun! (The app is in its beta format at the moment and has about 2 million users worldwide. Invitations to join Clubhouse are limited to 2 and have to be generated by an existing member. The app, unsurprisingly, has already been banned in the PRC.)
Hopes are rising of an easing of the lockdown by the beginning of April. I hope Scotland and England can agree on a freedom of movement between the two nations in the spring. Nationalists want to close the borders to keep the English out and those of us who wish to travel to England to see our children and grandchildren are potential collateral damage here if common sense does not prevail.
