Avoid the trees

Very windy today.

A sign at the entrance to Tatton Park informed us “in windy conditions avoid trees”. There are many ancient trees here, and plenty have lost limbs leaving big gashes in their trunks. Some examples looked quite recent. The management regime is to leave fallen branches and trunks in situ, all good for wildlife.

So as far as we could, we steered clear of trees. And people, although here it is about as safe as it can get, distancing is easy.
