La Défense de Paris (The defence of Paris)

This iconic statue "La Défense de Paris" gave the name to the whole business district. It was erected in 1883 to commemorate the soldiers who had defended Paris during the Franco-Prussian War. The statue was removed during the major building works in the district and then reinstalled in 1983, just a few meters away from its original place.
