In The Grip
With snow piled thigh deep at the side of the road and temperatures barely breaching zero Fahrenheit, this must rank amongst the snowiest and coldest winters since I've lived here. It would not do to have any exposed skin when out walking and I kept a constant guard in case my nose, in particular, felt too cold. Foggy viewfinder and buttons too fiddly in thick gloves added to the stress of photographing in these conditions.
I added a touch of blue shadow toning to this image to reflect the sombre mood of a day with very low light levels. Reducing contrast and saturation helped also to give a sort of misty effect that I recall, although that could just have been my eyes misting over.
