I lost my shoes

I wonder what the story is behind these shoes.

I imagine a little girl, hanging them on this fencepost on a sunny September day at the end of the season. Then she runs barefoot through the sand down to the shoreline to play with her friends.

I bet when she got home her mother asked, "Where are your shoes?"

"I lost them."

"How can you possibly lose your shoes?"

"I don't know."

How nice it is that in 6-months, no one else has taken them.
