A time for everything

“Painting the town red”!

Friday
Early afternoon, we had an appointment for a test drive of a new car. Both our cars are 14 years old, so we have finally decided it’s time to replace at least one of them. We’re looking at SUV’s as we are strongly considering buying a camper/caravan. We had a pop-up camper for many years but we sold it when we moved to France in 2013. This time round, we plan to get a regular camper. Campers over here are generally heavier than European ones, and you need something bigger than a regular saloon car. Today we were test driving the Toyota Highlander, and were quite impressed. We were on our own for the test drive, and of course masks were worn while in the showroom. After that, we came back home for a drink and a bite to eat, then donned our warm clothing to head out walking in the sub freezing temperatures at Sharon Woods - see extra. In the evening, we drove into downtown Cincinnati to see some of the buildings decked out in red for Valentines Day weekend and to mark the beginning of the ArtsWave campaign. Over 50 buildings across the city were participating in the event which is running tonight and tomorrow night. We focused on the downtown area, and the ones I have included in my Blip are Music Hall (centre), home to the Cincinnati Symphony, Cincinnati Opera and Cincinnati Ballet, left hand column, top to bottom, Playhouse in the Park, Aronoff Centre, the home for Broadway musicals amongst other events, and the recently built Art Museum steps - there is a road up as well, but that meanders round the back, so if you’re on foot the artistically designed steps are more direct. The right hand column depicts, top to bottom, the Union Terminal Museum Center, the Erich Kunzel Center for Arts and Education, and Memorial Hall.
Step count: 9,680
