Hubert
My sweet boy Hubert was diagnosed with lymphoma a couple of weeks ago. We noticed a small lump on his skin that didn’t seem concerning, although he had a check up with the vet. Within a week it had grown and our vet tried to see if I was a cyst, which it unfortunately wasn’t. She sent a sample of and we found out that it was intermediate to large cell lymphoma. Since then the lump has grown as is now a substantial size, it’s grown much quicker than we would have thought possible. We are waiting on a reply from the specialist vet in Edinburgh but the prognosis is extremely poor. The good news is that Hubert is not in any pain at all, the lump on his skin is his only symptom as it isn’t painful. We are just looking after him as best we can, and giving him all the love and treats he can handle. I just really cannot believe this could happen so many times.
My last post was about Arfur, we thought he had melanoma, it turns out it wasn’t, but ended up being a different type of cancer. Arfur’s lump burst and was leaking a black liquid, so we rushed him up to the vet. She gave it a squeeze as she thought it may be a cyst and a solid lump popped out. Sent this off for testing and it came back as an apocrine gland carcinoma. His lesion was flat for a bit but filled with another tumour, which our vet was able to pop out again. The lesion doesn’t really close over fully, so when it fills with the tumour it seems to come out and go flat again. This is a much less aggressive cancer and we are thankful Arfur is feeling well and has no other symptoms.
Lafawnda has completely lost the use of her back left leg,she isn’t really able to walk without support now. She is happy though, and we keep her comfy and cosy. She still loves her food, and she gets about even without using her back legs.
QT is doing well, she is off all her antibiotics for her ear infection with her recent checkup looking good. She is back to her mooching ways, she is always after treats.
All is quiet on the Shep and Luna front thankfully. They spend their days blissfully sleeping in their box and trying to sneak into the living room every chance they get. Apart from Luna being told she needs to lose a little weight, they are both doing well.
It’s be a stressful time as you can tell, I had meant to blip before now but this has just all happened so quickly. I will update with how Hubey is doing.
