Little egrets have funny feet

I only noticed just how strange their feet look this morning. I was already running late for work so I stopped to watch this guy/girl for a minute. Their legs are like sticks with big yellow chicken feet attached to the end. Odd for such a graceful bird.

I am so glad it's Friday tomorrow, even though I'm going to the dentist on Saturday. It's probably a good thing I'm going since I've been getting some pain around my lower wisdom teeth again. So much for wisdom - those things have cost me an unbelievable amount of money in dentist visits in the past 5 years.

I went out at lunchtime for a walk in the park and along the river. I saw lots of birds - about 5 robins (not together), some coal tits, a wren and some grey wagtails. I also got a fleeting glimpse of a kingfisher but it wasn't sticking around. On my way back to work I saw two little egrets fly over together, which makes me hope we'll get some little ones this year. Then I went back to work, which was much less interesting. I managed to escape while there was still some light remaining and went for another short walk along the river on my way home.

I'm hoping the clouds will clear at some point over the weekend so I can do some photography.
