Two for the Price of One
Narcissus asturiensis, the smallest of the wild trumpet daffodil species, the flowers under an inch long, accompanied by Narcissus cantabricus var petunioides. The latter is not quite fully open, the corona (trumpet) is not fully expanded. It's a member of the Hoop Petticoat group but in this form the corona opens wider, almost flat, resembling a petunia flower shape. Two little gems.
A lovely sunny day here but very cold, a hard frost exacerbated by the wind, the ground mostly frozen hard even here just a few hundred yards from the sea. Assorted admin and tidying jobs progressed, this afternoon I popped over to help Mum with some admin too. Displaced for the winter by coronavirus which made getting back home difficult in October, she's not eligible for a vaccination in Wales, we think due to red tape around public liability insurance. The upshot of this afternoon's phone call with her surgery in London is that I am taking her to Shrewsbury for her first vaccination on Friday, this being the nearest option in England. It's crazy that a 92 year-old cannot get a local vaccination but these are strange times and it seems better to work with the system than challenge it. If anyone reading this knows a better way around the problem do tell :-)
