A squash and a squeeze

After our baby massage class this morning, Arwen and I went for lunch at a friend's house. Her baby Edith is only six days older than Arwen and it's lovely as our other daughters were also born within months of each other both times. Nice to share this journey with a friend. Arwen grew tired and needed a nap after a while. Since Edie was born almost a month before her due date, she's still smaller than our gargantuan baby and sleeps in a Moses basket, so it was a bit of a squeezy squish squash in the basket for Arwen who was out of hers within about three weeks of being born.. She slept for a good 90 minutes or so in there though.
I was advised by the health visitor today to wean Arwen earlier than the recommended six months. She said to wait a week or two but then to begin solids. I've been supplementing my feeds with bottles of formula for a couple of weeks now, but even after downing a good six ounces from the bottle, Arwen still comes back for a double feed from me within the hour and she's still up four or five times a night gulping eagerly. It's not surprising she needs so much, given how active she is already. In a way it's lovely to see her flipping around the floor, but on the other hand it seems so quick - and like the little baby phase passed by way too quickly. Now I'm getting revved up for the return to work in two months' time and it's all a bit overwhelming. :(
