American Robin
This is the third sighting of a robin this week, harbingers of spring! We typically see them in March or April but they’ve arrived a few weeks early this year. They will depend on berries and fruit until worms and insects become available. The early birds won’t be too happy with the snowstorm that’s coming later today and then again on Tuesday. I’ll find out if there’s any fruit I can set out for them • Yesterday afternoon we observed a group of six deer in the woods just beyond our house. One smaller one left the group to come into the yard to eat apples and seeds from the picnic table. It was Blipzen!! We’re relieved and thrilled to know he is not alone! He returned to the others and all lingered for more than an hour waiting for dark to arrive. Then all six came in to eat seeds from underneath the feeders and to finish off the leftovers from Blipzen. Joy! • Happy Hour planned with friends this afternoon, then later, The Superbowl. We’re cheering on Tampa Bay for the win! • Cheers!
