Food Glorious Food

After spending yesterday being idle, today’s snow meant we were in for more of the same. I decided I might as well move up to the next level of lockdown life and do some comfort eating. Didn’t want to go out but a quick search through the freezer revealed a bag of “cook at home” Pain aux Raisins.
These are from M&S and are actually the same as the ones they cook and serve in their in store bakeries and cafes. As long as you follow the instructions, the end result is, indeed, indistinguishable from the in store products.
But then I started to feel guilty. We didn’t put on the “corona stone” in lockdown one, due to exercising and watching what we ate, so no reason to do it this time. Did a bit of weight training and decided just to have soup and toast for tea in order to balance out the calorific intake for the day.
The continuing cold and wet weather put paid to any thoughts of further exercise so it’s fire on and settle down in front of the telly for the evening (again!)
Sad news about the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore. Considering how much he did last year to raise funds, it is particularly upsetting that this virus managed to get him in the end. It is of some consolation that his final year was filled with some fantastic experiences.
I think the best way we could honour him is by doing what we are told, staying at home, having the vaccine when offered it and all work together to eradicate this virus. I’m already seeing events scheduled for May this year being moved to 2022 - I’d really like to think that I will be able to attend them without any restrictions by then.
