From the dark corner.....

Am I breaking down?!

Well, here we are again at the middle of the week or as one guy on the radio calls it - Hump Day! I think he means over the hump of the week. I used to like going out on Wednesday nights, meeting a crowd of friends in Birmingham at 8pm in the Costermongers (rock pub) and then if we felt like it, we'd walk all the way to the other side of town to another rock pub and I'd sometimes take an album (vinyl!) so I could ask the DJ to play a chosen track. We all used to ring each other up (on a normal telephone) to make the same arrangements for every single 'Mid Week Rave' as I called it even though it was just a few pints and some great music. We did the same thing every week for years and it would have made more sense to only ring up if you weren't going to make it. Oh well...

None of that now! We are all too broke, senile, old or tired or probably all four.

Anyway, I forced myself away from my desk at lunchtime and bought my cheese and onion baguette from The Fat Sandwich shop as usual. A different woman took my Scottish tenner to the bored manager to inspect.
'Yes!' he said impatiently. 'Of course we STILL take THOSE!'

I went to Touchwood after that with my camera hung round my neck looking cool like a roving reporter (so I thought) before I stumbled over one of those yellow cones saying 'Beware! Cleaning in Process'. Hmmmm. Very cool. There should be signs higher up saying 'Beware! Yellow Cones!'

I went straight up the escalator and wandered around the top bit where all the restaurants are near the cinema, felt uninspired and decided to take a brave shot coming down the other side! Isn't it great how we have markers on the steps to show you where to put your feet?? If I had the job of painting those escalators, I'd add a few paw and hand prints for a laugh but would probably get sacked in disgrace for breaking some daft Health and Safety rule. Anyway, I decided on a little touch of HDR to make this shot a bit more interesting.

Track? The escalator didn't break down and I didn't have a breakdown while travelling down but I fancy a bit of ZZ Top - Stop Breaking Down Blues
