2 Tone

For my blip today I dug out my old record collection, after listening to a news item on the radio this morning, about the City of Coventry and the band the Specials. My copy of their debut 1979 album was a bit faded, so I created a black and white image of the album cover taken against a two tone background. The band the Specials was formed during 1977 in Coventry (UK City of Culture 2021). Their goal was to integrate black and white people, and confront racism. Their music drew heavily on the traditions of Jamaican ska and rocksteady music, and combined this with the raw energy of punk. The album was issued by Chrysalis Records and was produced by Elvis Costello.
