Nothing happens here...

Somewhere near Port Appin

This model represents BMS115, an AEC Regal lll with a Burlingham bus body.  It was new to Alexander and Sons of Falkirk in 1947.  WA & Sons was broken into three divisions, Midland, Northern and Fife in 1961 and this bus lasted in the blue Midland fleet until 1965. It was sold to a Glasgow dealer and then onto a showman.

I've painted it in the fictitious livery of West Highland Transport but it's actually based on the maroon Highland Transport of Inverness livery.

The buildings are hand built and the one with the clock tower represents the Crinan Canal shipping office, still in use at Ardrishaig.  There's a glimpse of a couple of other scratch built cottages.  The hill in the background is 106' Dun Mor in Ellanbeich on Seil Island.  WJO Smith, local bus operator, kept his vehicle there (every one knew him as Billy Smith of Easdale) .  He also had a filling station just up the road in Balvicar with the lovely phone number, Balvicar 1.  The extra shows an advertising flyer when Billy Smith ran a saloon car for locals to visit Oban.

The service that he founded is now West Coast Motors 418.  He sold out to McColl’s of Benderloch, in May 1972.  Smith’s operated the Easdale to Oban service via Cuan Ferry - Clachan - Kilninver.  The route was also operated by Duncan McDougall of Oban.  McColl was acquired by West Coast Motors in 1982.
