Blackbird ( Turdus merula )
Well it had to be something birdie today as today marks two milestones in the birding year. Obviously one is the last day of the big garden birdwatch. I am convinced they pass the word round and avoid our garden during the birdwatch. Only 9 species during the hour.
The other milestone is the last day of January. It is illegal to move or interfere with a nest box between the end of January and October. So a final check on the boxes and cameras before sitting back with the fingers crossed hoping for results. When I hung the woodcrete box yesterday there were two different tits sat on top and one hung at the hole for a second or two.
Oh in case you haven't worked it out the blip is a male Blackbird turning over the leaves looking for worms etc.
