Sunshine

.... made up for it being a day of storm force winds.

When the wind blows in from the east here, it gets funnelled through the mountains and the impact on the west coast can be worse than that of westerly storms.   I didn't go far today but have still seen three fences in disarray, including part of the fence in our usually sheltered rear patch.   In our case it's old and largely rotten, due to be replaced this year anyway.   I'll need to make temporary repairs to ensure Meg cannot push through which she might try if the little yappy dogs next door are loose!

Jamie took our friend's dog, Jack,  out with his trike.  Good for Jamie, good for Jack and saved his owner a buffeting in the wind.   On three wheels and weighed down by the heavy batteries, Jamie was pretty safe in the wind but I waited until it was a bit calmer before walking Meg.

Crocus cvijicii  (say svee-each-e-i) is a mountain species from former Yugoslavia, Albania and N Greece where it's found in meadows at up to 2500m.   I think the flowers are some of the most elegant in the genus ... and beautiful too!    I brought these indoors to be photographed and 'tickled' the flowers with a fine paintbrush in the hope of pollination and later, seeds.  Extra pic: a mix of crocuses from the biflorus aggragate.
