Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A very good start to the day - our vaccination appointments arrived! But they were NOT in a blue envelope, as promised. We get them in a couple of weeks. Woohoo! Not that it’ll make any difference to our lives for quite some time.

JR had a midday fitness session, so, after I had done the bike, I took Archie out for a walk. We stopped for a chat with Rufus and his mum, then walked on across the Meadows. We bumped into Kaiser, who looks like a wee wooly hound (he’s a schnauzer) but is going for his first Big Boy Haircut soon.

I stopped for an oat milk flat white at Kauai, and got a free one because their wifi wasn’t working and I couldn’t order it on my phone.

We walked on down town, cutting through by the Writer’s Museum. Robert Burns lived there for a while, and as it’s it’s his birthday, it’s the blip for today.

I wanted a better view (from the Mound) of the new hotel in the St James Quarter. It sure stands out, especially in the sunshine, but it’s not universally loved, and has some nicknames already (‘Walnut Whip’ and less generously - ‘The Turd’) (Extra)

We walked through the park and we were delighted to see that the fountain was indeed founting again (it was frozen last time). Caught a bus up the road and came across the Links, where Archie had fun rubbing his beard in the snow, of course. It’s actually melting now, so the temperature today must have been above 0°C! (8,987 steps)
