Cranes Over Castle

The Portuguese Bishops have cancelled all services and we've decided to cancel our Bubble's Sunday lunches, so I knew we needed a plan to make it a special day. Decided to take a picnic and walk somewhere we'd not been, over near the Spanish border.

Such different countryside to our place. Soft rolling hills dotted with holm oaks. Large landowners. Alentejano cattle with their calves. Sheep bells. Vineyards. The resinous amber smell of rock roses. A curving inlet to the Lake forming the border with Spain. And the frustrating sound of cranes honking, but never getting close enough to them to get a photo, though they did fly over us while we were eating our picnic (extra).

We ended up at the ruined buildings beside the small eucalyptus grove we can see from our house; thrilled to clearly see our two buildings from there - the bottom two of the white buildings below the right hand side of the castle - especially as we were close to five kms from them. And even more pleased that a flock of cranes flew over as I took the photo.

Gratefuls:
- being able to watch all three of our church's Livestreams; Deb, our daughter, did a great job, proud Mum
- crisps, bacon and prawn, that Karis left here, for our picnic
- sharing the fun the family in Sutton were having in the snow - sledding and snowballing, via FT, while walking along in our shirt sleeves
