2015-08-23 (Day 235) ice Hockey

Down at the rink today there was a different kind of skating going on! Some ice hockey practice was underway, and it was great to watch!

The game was really, really fast, with the action shifting from end to end in a moment. The goalie never got to relax and grab some water while the action was at the other end of the field; passing the puck from one end of the rink to the other was a matter of les than a second. And substitutions seemed to happen instantaneously, with no need to stop the match to change personnel.

Again, I learned that taking photos in an ice rink is not easy, though you do have a great place to get your colour balance from.

I understand that the challenge for a phtographer is to capture the action with the puck in flight - well, I didn't quite manage that but I reckon it was still moving here as the goalkeeper blocked the shot - in truth much of the time I was struggling to see where the puck was, it was moving so fast!
