The light shines in the darkness...

...and the darkness did not overcome it.

Dear Diary,

What a wonderful day yesterday was!  A peaceful transfer of power happened despite all his effort to impede the will of the people.  We have a new president and vice president and although it came very close, the ship of state did not founder.  A steady, experienced and compassionate hand is at the helm and I am so relieved.  I think the whole world breathed a collective sigh of relief as well.  Now the hard work begins...
