Getting stuck in
The girls are still working so hard on the sweet basil flowers. But it's not easy getting a decent shot of them, because when there's two or three working the same area, they stay at any one flower for no more than a second at a time. Plenty of light, so that's not a problem, but manually focussing the macro lens can be quite tricky.
Indeed, the only way to ensure I get a few in-focus shots is to take dozens of them and hope for the best when you view them on the computer screen.
Got lucky with this lot, in that I ended up with half a dozen presentable shots, so I could compare each of them side-by-side to choose the one that best reflects the girls' nectaring efforts.
This one gets a guernsey because it looks like she's really getting stuck in to that morsel of nectar, with no holding back, all the while buzzing her wings like crazy to hover in the one spot - then straight on to the next one, and the next...
Reckon any rest she gets tonight back in the Flow hive will be very well deserved.
