Family came from far and wide to celebrate Sam's 18th. We hired the village hall and spent some of yesterday setting up the tables and decorating the space. We had a really great day and any apprehension that Sam felt soon disappeared. I had spent hours and hours scanning photos and working through digital files to create a slideshow from the day of his birth to his 18th birthday. When Nick and I first watched it through earlier in the week we both shed a wee tear and today was no exception. All those memories and moments.

The coconut custard cake was a triumph too, although I made such an enormous cake that we will be living off it for weeks!
