Snow line

This view of the snow covered Pentlands was taken from the bridge over the Edinburgh suburban circle line at Peffermill. The line is used for freight trains, especially the one carrying nuclear waste from Torness to Dounreay. There are plans to reintroduce a passenger service and reopen the closed stations. It would be a good way to relieve road traffic pressure in Edinburgh which has just been named U.K.’s capital of congestion.

Later, on the beach we saw a wide range of sea birds which were easy to see because of the flat calm sea but far harder to identify accurately!
