Slow Progress

Today it was cold, very cold.  The wall building kept us warm, but it seems that for every two stones I place, I remove one, and find another, slightly better shaped.  It is going to be hidden by a laurel hedge eventually, but it does replace the old ‘wall’ (read pile of stones) that marked the property boundary originally. Smaller in-fill stones are accompanied by a sand-cement mix just for extra rigidity.  Mrs SoL was weeding and lobbing in some of the smaller stones as well, so can not now take full and entire credit for the final product (not that I would of course).  Extra pic is of the pile of yet-to-be-used stones.  We are very roughly half way up the height of the walls you can see on the right. The builders rubble, concrete bits, broken tiles etc. to the left of the extra pic are for the base of the compost bay walls elsewhere in the garden. I have a weird idea that this particular wall should be made of pure stones and not mixed in with more modern detritus from roofs etc.  We’ll see if I can stick with that.  Onwards and upwards.......
